This training is designed to upskill current RTM™ and future to-be-trained therapists in Ukraine with knowledge of working with sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) resulting in PTSD.
Learning outcomes
- Identify how clients present with SGBV
- Understand how SGBV can lead to PTSD
- Recognise the psychobiological effects of SGBV
- Coercive control and gaslighting as a backdrop to SGBV
- Recognise how capacity and consent can lead to normalisation of SGBV
- Understand how Adverse Childhood Experiences can lead to PTSD responses in adult sexual relationships
- Develop skills in supporting clients to manage issues of power and control in relationships
- Gain an understanding of the need to develop a care pathway for post PTSD care in SGBV
- Develop insight into the skills required to manage suicidality and self-harm in SGBV
- Use reflective practice to assess own risk for vicarious trauma and develop effective strategies for self-care
- Be able to assess case appropriateness for RTM™ intervention
Pre-requisites for attending
All attendees are required to have either completed RTM™ training or are enrolled on a scheduled training.
Post graduate qualification or 5 years + experience in psychology/psychotherapy or counselling.
